Best Practices for Your Planner

• Use the yearly calendar at the beginning of this planner to accurately fill in the dates for your monthly and weekly planner pages.
• Daily Focus: determine this as you plan for your day or even theme out the week ahead of you.
• Top Six Tasks: These are the items that you need to complete to feel like you accomplished something today (see Top Six Tasks article for more information).
• Using the Time Slots: Who are you meeting? What are you doing during that time? Where are you meeting?
  
• Schedule your family and leisure time!
  
• Make sure you leave a cushion between appointments for things that come up (phone calls, traffic, etc.); by leaving space in your schedule you give yourself flexibility to react to issues that may arise.

• Use Post-It Notes for extra reminders or temporary notes (keep extra sticky's in a short stack at the front of your planner). 
  
• Color code and highlight things you need to recall later (for monthly reports, client billing, etc.).
  
• Use paperclips or binder clips to easily locate current month view and weekly view.
  
• Extra notes section in the back: client “hit” list, random thoughts, mission statements, affirmations, etc.
